The Juniors Craft category (within our Creative Arts and Cookery Competition) celebrates creativity, imagination and hands-on learning, with categories designed to inspire builders, makers, artists and future innovators. There's never been a better time for young creators to share their ideas, learn new skills and see their work on display at the Perth Royal Show.

One of the newest additions to the Juniors Craft category invites young builders to create a farm-themed Minecraft world.

Entrants aged 9–17 are challenged to design a virtual farm featuring barns, tractors, livestock, crops or any other elements that bring agriculture to life. Judges will be looking for creativity, attention to detail, technique and storytelling. Builds must be no larger than 60 blocks long, 60 blocks wide and 40 blocks high, and each entry must also include a digital poster highlighting the build's key features.

How to export your Minecraft world

  1. Open Minecraft and select Play.
  2. Find the world you'd like to enter.
  3. Select Settings next to the world name.
  4. Scroll down and select Export World.
  5. Save the exported .mcworld file to your device.
  6. Upload your .mcworld file along with your digital poster when completing your competition entry.

Love building with LEGO? This year's challenge is inspired by the 2026 Creative Arts theme, Orchards – Fruits and Nuts.

Create an original LEGO scene featuring orchard trees, blossoms, farming equipment, fruit, nuts or even a miniature orchard. Entries must be built entirely from LEGO® (including DUPLO® if desired) and be the entrant's own design.

How to prepare your LEGO entry

  1. Build your original LEGO creation around the Orchard theme.
  2. Mount it securely on a LEGO baseplate no larger than 30cm × 30cm × 30cm.
  3. If required, use Blu Tack or LEGO glue only to secure the baseplate to a board (it must not be visible).
  4. Take a clear photograph of your completed build.
  5. Include the photograph with your competition entry.
  6. Deliver your LEGO creation to the Perth Royal Show for judging.

Turn everyday items into something extraordinary in the 100% Recycled Materials category.

Using materials such as cardboard, paper, plastic bottles, fabric or bottle tops, young creators are encouraged to transform pre-loved items into imaginative models, sculptures, artworks or even wearable creations. It's a fun way to get creative while giving materials a second life.

How to enter

  1. Collect recycled or pre-used materials.
  2. Take a photo of the materials before you start.
  3. Create your artwork or project.
  4. Make sure it fits within the class size requirements.
  5. Include the original "before" photo with your entry.
  6. Submit your project as part of your Perth Royal Show competition entry.

And there's so much more...

Juniors Craft is just one part of it. Creative minds of all ages can also enter a wide range of traditional Creative Arts and Cookery competition categories, including knitting, crochet, embroidery, patchwork, woodwork, leatherwork, calligraphy, beading, dolls and toys, decorated cakes, jams and preserves, baking, bread making and much more.

Ready to get started?

Visit the Creative Arts & Cookery Competition page to explore the categories, read the entry requirements and submit your entry.

Entries close Monday, 3 August 2026.
