Judging Information
Behind every ribbon is a careful, considered decision. Here’s how judging works at the Perth Royal Show.
HOW JUDGING WORKS
The standard behind the ribbon
Judging at the Perth Royal Show is built on expertise, fairness and a deep respect for the effort behind every entry.
Across all competitions, our judges are selected for their knowledge, experience and connection to industry. From livestock and produce to creative arts and photography, each entry is assessed against clear criteria relevant to its class.
While every competition is different, judging generally considers quality, presentation, technique and how well the entry meets the class requirements. It’s not just about standing out, it’s about meeting the standard.
Judging takes place according to each competition schedule, with some events judged before the Show opens and others happening live during the event. Results are awarded based on merit, and judges’ decisions are final.
Recognised across the industry
A Perth Royal Show ribbon represents more than a moment — it reflects skill, consistency and a standard recognised across the industry. Every award is carefully judged, making it a mark of genuine achievement.
