The Goats Competition at the Perth Royal Show offers a unique opportunity to showcase your prized dairy and fibre goats, learn from industry experts, and connect with fellow enthusiasts.
WA'S LEADING GOAT COMPETITION
This competition includes nine recognised dairy breeds — Anglo Nubian, Australian Melaan, Australian Brown, Australian Alpine, British Alpine, LaMancha, Nigerian Dwarf, Saanen and Toggenburg — assessed against breed standards for quality, temperament and productivity.
Judging categories include:
- Handler Classes for children and juniors showing their skills with goats.
- Kid Parade with classes for young does and bucks, culminating in the Supreme Champion Kid.
- Dairy Goat Judging across junior and senior champions, with production and best udder awards.
- Special Awards including Most Successful Exhibitor and Herdsman Award for Best Kept Pens.
- Mohair Fleece Judging — showcasing WA-grown fleece across fine kid, strong kid, young goat and hand-spinning classes.
LOOKING TO ENTER?
The Goats & Mohair Fleeces Competition is open to registered breeders and fleece producers, with classes designed to reward excellence in breeding, milk production, presentation and fibre quality.

- Supreme Senior Champion Dairy Doe – Perpetual Trophy + $50, sponsored by Dairy Goat Society of WA
- Supreme Champion Kid – Trophy sponsored by Dandalee Park Stud & Indigo Stud, voucher from Thompson & Redwood
- Most Successful Mohair Fleece Exhibitor – $200 + Perpetual Trophy, sponsored by SRS Genetics Angora Goats
- Governor's Cup points available for eligible single-pen classes

Registered breeders can enter goats that meet our competition criteria. All goats must be registered and adhere to the regulations set by the Australian Goat Breeding Association.
Goats are assessed against breed standards for quality, temperament and productivity. Judging categories include Handler Classes, Kid Parade, Dairy Goat Judging, Special Awards and Mohair Fleece Judging.
Dairy Goat Classes: $14.95 (Non-Member) / $13.45 (RASWA Member). Mohair Fleece Classes: $10.15 / $9.15.
Entries close on Monday 7 July 2026.
Results and awards will be announced on Friday 5 September 2026.
