Preserving Western Australia's Agricultural Heritage
Heritage Hall
Heritage Hall preserves history through one of WA's most significant collections of historic farming machinery, equipment and rural artefacts.
A LIVING COLLECTION OF AGRICULTURAL HISTORY
What began in the 1980s as a small display of historic farm machinery at the Perth Royal Show has grown into a remarkable collection celebrating Western Australia's agricultural heritage.
The collection expanded through generous donations from individuals, organisations and industry, including the Tom Curnow Collection and the Priestner Collection. Among its most significant exhibits is the complete Priestner blacksmith workshop from Nedlands, which operated from the 1930s until 1961 and remains largely intact.
Today, Heritage Hall houses an extensive collection of restored tractors, stationary engines, agricultural machinery, horse-drawn equipment and rural memorabilia, with many items maintained in working order by dedicated volunteers.
The original Blacksmith Workshop continues to be an active workshop and is home to the Blacksmiths Association of Western Australia, where traditional blacksmithing skills are taught and demonstrated through regular courses and workshops.
