Judging Process

Judges assessing entries during the Perth Royal Food Awards

HOW IT WORKS

Judging at the Perth Royal Food Awards is designed to recognise the highest standards of quality in food and beverage.

Entries are judged through a blind tasting process, ensuring products are evaluated solely on their quality and against strict criteria specific to its category. Depending on the competition, this may include attributes such as flavour, balance, aroma, texture, technique and overall presentation.

This structured process ensures every entry is assessed fairly and consistently. Panels work collaboratively to evaluate products and award scores based on agreed standards, providing a credible benchmark for quality across the industry.

Entry Submission: Producers submit products with entry forms and supporting documentation.

Blind Assessment: Products are de-identified and presented to judges without brand information.

Panel Evaluation: Expert panels score products against defined criteria for each category.

Medal Determination: Scores are calibrated and medals awarded based on achievement levels.
