Distilled Spirits

The Perth Royal Food Awards - Distilled Spirits competition recognises excellence in distilling and the innovation shaping Australia’s modern spirits industry. 

The competition provides distillers with the opportunity to benchmark their products against industry standards and gain recognition for quality and craftsmanship. Producers from across Australia and internationally submit their spirits to be assessed by experienced judging panels through a blind judging process. 

Entries span a wide range of spirit styles, with classes typically including gin, vodka, whisky, rum, brandy and liqueurs, alongside contemporary and emerging spirit styles. Each class is judged against criteria specific to that spirit style. 

Since its introduction, the Distilled Spirits competition has grown alongside Australia’s craft distilling movement, reflecting the increasing diversity and quality of spirits produced across the industry. 

A medal awarded through the Perth Royal Food Awards represents a respected mark of quality, recognising spirits that demonstrate outstanding distilling expertise and character.
